As a proud friend and supporter of Dr. David Jones and the Doodleville Community Development Center, I am thrilled to nominate this outstanding organization as a Small Business Hero. Doodleville is so much more than just a community hub on Chicago’s South Side—it’s a safe space where hope, creativity, and academic achievement come alive for youth and their families.

I’ve seen firsthand how Dr. Jones and the entire Doodleville team overcome every challenge thrown their way. Whether it’s turning limited resources into after-school programs, mentoring young leaders, or renovating spaces so more kids can thrive, they move mountains with heart and perseverance. When the pandemic hit or funding got tight, they found innovative ways to connect with families and keep spirits high. Their integrity is unmatched—they build trust not just with parents, but with the whole neighborhood.

The impact is real:  children who once felt overlooked now find their voice through art, education, and mentorship. Doodleville’s graduates become shining examples for the entire community. Dr. Jones inspires volunteers, partners, and—most importantly—the youth, leading all of us to believe in a brighter future.

I wholeheartedly believe that Doodleville CDC exemplifies what this $20,000 Hero Grant seeks to celebrate:  resilience, lasting impact, and a passion for making our world better, one child at a time.
